Helen Skelton

Helen Skelton

Following the tradition of some of her fellow presenters, Helen Skelton worked on both Blue Peter and Newsround before she joined the Countryfile team in 2008. She had a rural upbringing on a dairy farm in Cumbria, but as a fully qualified tap dance teacher she could have had a very different career. Fortunately she chose to keep working in broadcast journalism, and as part of her work has undertaken several charity challenges, including a 78-mile Namibian ultra-marathon, solo kayaking the entire length of the Amazon River, and becoming the first person reach the South Pole using a bicycle. She lives with her husband in Warrington, Cheshire.
