1. Plant a hedge
Plant a hedge to make a home for little critters, or sprinkle wildflower seeds to grow a miniature meadow.
2. Build a bug hotel
Build an insect hotel from piled-up rocks, bricks, logs, twigs and leaves and wait to see what sets up home.
3. Plant berry bushes
Butterflies love to drink from the nectar-filled blossoms of blackberry, gooseberry and redcurrant bushes.
4. Leave space for travel
Ensure your fence has holes along the bottom so creatures such as hedgehogs and frogs can squeeze through.
5. Pond life
If you have space, dig a pond. Shallow ponds are great for tadpoles; deeper ones will attract newts and dragonflies.
